Here is what I got up to during term 2 of my first year of the Masters of Architecture at University of British Columbia
Design Studio
There were 4 assignments that broke up the term
Exercise 1 – Tama Art University Library by Toyo Ito
In this group project we were tasked with researching a building a scaled mockup of the Tama Art University by Toyo Ito. We modelled the overall layout of the building in Rhino, and then produced a 3D printed mold based on a small intersection of the walls. Finally we cast it in concrete using the 3d printed mold.
Exercise 2 – Ready (Re)made
For this assignment we explored materials using reused or salvaged materials. I experimented with making bioplastic in different hardness and darkness using glycerin , gelatin, and brewed coffee. I also experimented with form making using film, plastic letters, bike reflectors

Exercise 3a – Wheelchair Rugby Community Hub
We were tasked with designing a wheelchair Rugby community Hub in the China Creek North Park in Vancouver. Some of the requirements for the design were that it needed to keep one of the ball diamonds intact, it had to interact with the hill, and it needed to have two stories. I started with rough sketch models, and eventually moved into procedural design iterations using Rhino and Grasshopper. Also experimented with some AI renders using comfyui and depth control nets from houdini

Exercise 3b – Wheelchair Rugby Community Hub Continued
This continued on from the previous assignment, I did lots of studies into Hyperbolic Parabola forms, using lots of grasshopper. I printed over 6kg of pla on my 3d printer doing design iterations this term.

Grasshopper
Using GIS Data of the Vancouver area we created renders of the site plan

The second assignment was to design a parametric bridge using grasshopper and locate it somewhere on the site we had built previously

Finally we imagined the site as it would be in the next 100 years with rising sea level and as a group designed procedural terrain and buildings to go on the site
